The principal of a private school in Pillanna Garden has been accused of sexually harassing a student. The parents of the 13-year-old girl, a class VI student of Royal English School on Tannery Road, said the principal, Mohammed Imtiyaz, 45, allegedly kissed the girl and made other sexual advances. The girl later complained to her parents, said the police.

At 11am on Friday, Imtiyaz misbehaved with the girl in his chamber. When he kissed her, the girl ran out of the room and came home, said Vasanthi, the victim’s mother.

Later, when Vasanthi confronted him in school, Imtiyaz physically assaulted her, she complained. A crowd of over 150 persons gathered in front of the school in the afternoon and protested. Imtiyaz has been taken into custody and he claims innocence. However, other girl students in the school told the police that Imtiyaz misbehaved with them too.
