Kashmiri kabab from Kashmir, idly-vada from Tamil Nadu; steamed chicken momos from Mizoram, seafood from Daman and Diu, and food from across the nation were available at one place in Mangalore on Friday.

The National Youth Festival gave Mangaloreans a chance to get the real taste of India on the second day of the five-day festival.
Food enthusiasts who attended the food festival went gaga over the variety of delicacies on display.

Sub-continental menu
“The diverse eating habits of our sub-continent have been brought to one place. I just can’t have enough of food here because they are all as tasty as the other. The food of one state cannot be compared to another as they have a different science in cooking. This is a perfect example of diversity in unity,” said a St. Aloysius College student, who thanked his college for granting students a holiday so that they could enjoy the day at the festival.
There were a few items that won the hearts of the visitors.

Kashmiri kahwa (tea) and kabab, paneer and chicken rolls from West Bengal, biryani from Hyderabad and chicken sukka with pundi (rice balls) were among the items that tickled the taste buds of the visitors.
