State has a week to file affidavit in KPSC cas

The high court on Tuesday granted the state government a week's time to place before it modalities in the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) inquiry into alleged irregularities in the selection process undertaken by the Karnataka Public Service Commission in the years 1998, 1999 and 2004.

Kaleel Ahmed and 61 others had earlier filed a petition seeking a CBI inquiry into the various irregularities committed in the selection process by KPSC officials.

When the case came up for hearing on Tuesday KM Nataraj, additional advocate general, submitted to the court that the CID would file an FIR into alleged irregularities.

He sought an adjournment for a week, so that an affidavit could be submitted in the matter.

The division bench headed by chief justice JS Khehar directed the state government to file an appropriate affidavit enumerating the procedures to be adopted in the investigation process by the CID, and further indicating whether a criminal case has been filed against irregularities.

The case was adjourned to August 16, 2011.
