Justice N Kumar of Karnataka HC advised businessmen to use Alternate Dispute Resolution (ADR) for speedy dispensation of justice, at the Federation of Karnataka Chambers of Commerce and Industry on Saturday.

Speaking at the conference, Justice N Kumar said, “We want alternatives. We have the best judicial buildings and the system is great. But the population of our country is high and hence the huge number of litigants.”

Its need stems from people looking for speedy justice, which is not available now. In the current system, all disputes are taken up following a particular procedure.

ADR offers facilities to litigants, like the freedom to choose his own judge. Further, the dispute resolution is quick. This is not possible in the court system.

Sometimes, a litigant waits for 10 years for a 10-minute argument in the court.
