The scheduled "SlutWalk" here today was a non-starter after the moral brigade threatened to disrupt it.

Bangalore police last night cancelled permission given earlier to hold the event after "some organisations" said they would "disturb" it.

"Permission was cancelled. Lot of opposition had come from some organisations. They want to disturb it," Bangalore Additional Commissioner of Police (Law and Order) T Suneel Kumar told PTI.

"I don't want to disclose the name of the organisations (who wanted to protest)," he said.

The cancellation led to outrage among those who wanted to participate.

"It's really frustrating. It's really sad. It's actually a good cause. They are not letting us to support the cause even for a few hours," said a participant, who gave her name as only Priya.

SlutWalk here -- "Gejje Hejje" (walk with an anklet) -- was to feature some participants dressed liked 'sluts' and was aimed at registering protest against the tendency to blame the way women victims dressed in case of sexual assault.
