Sindagi town, where life was thrown out of gear on Sunday following the act of hoisting Pakistan flag, was peaceful on Monday.

A bandh called by 14 organisations headed by the Karnataka Rakshana Vedike  passed off without any untoward incidents, but it did receive a mixed response. KSRTC buses plied normally towards Bagalkot, Raichur, Bidar and Hubli, while several areas observed the bandh, especially in Sindagi Bazaar area townships such as Indi and Basavana Bagewadi. The bandh did not affect the district headquarters of Bijapur.

Police superintendent Dr DC Rajappa said as a precautionary measure, police forces from neighbouring taluks have been deployed in the town.

“We are on the trail of the mischief-mongers and I have appealed to the people not to spread rumours or take law into their hands.”
