A notorious rowdy, who was wanted in a series of sensational murder cases, was picked up from Dharmapuri in Tamil Nadu by the Central Crime Branch of the police on Saturday morning.
Identifying the accused as Sunil alias Silent Sunil (27), a resident of Gayathrinagar, police said that his associates — R Manjunath (24), Kumar alias Sambhar (21), Madhav (22) and Balasubramanya (24) — were nabbed from Milk Colony in Subramanyanagar on Saturday evening, while they were waiting to attack a rival gang member, Break Jaggi.
Three bullets, four swords, five mobile phones, a revolver and a knife, besides a Hyundai Verna, were recovered from their possession.
Police said that Sunil had been absconding ever since the leader of a rival gang, Bullet Ravi, and his associate, Srinivasa, were murdered at a fitness centre in Yelahanka on July 27 last year.
“Besides being the main accused in the murder of Bekkina Kannu Rajendra five years ago on Race Course Road, Sunil is wanted in nearly 18 cases of murder, attempt to murder, theft and robbery,” a senior police officer said.
