Shobha Karandlaje inspires Bangalore students to enter political arena

“India is a young country and our youth are the backbone of our country. More and more youth should enter politics to bring about a positive change in the society and governance,” said Shobha Karandlaje, while addressing MCom students from various colleges in the city after inaugurating COM-VISION 2011, an inter-college competition at Bangalore University.

Mahendra Jain, chief executive officer, EYGBS (India), vice-chancellor N Prabhu Dev and legislator B Suresh Gowda were also present.

The competition gives students a common platform to exhibit their analytical, leadership, computer, presentation and application skills. The competition has both off-stage and on-stage events.

The on-stage events are business quiz, product launch, best manager and mock stock. The off-stage ones are bringing out a wall magazine and a treasure hunt.

“Nowadays, college curriculum only has theoretical knowledge, I am happy that Bangalore University has come up with this idea to enhance the practical skills of students. It is most essential at the moment.” said Shoba.

COM-VISION 2011 — 13th edition saw the participation of a huge number of students who were eager to display their managerial skills.

This is a beginning for more such practical experimentations and more number of institutions should come forward to hold such events for the students, Shobha said.
