The Lokayukta police seized property worth Rs2.44 crore from the house of BBMP’s assistant executive engineer S Venkatesh on Saturday.

The Lokayukta officials also raided his mother-in-law Jayamma’s house in Hoskote taluk and a commercial complex in HSR Layout. They found that the engineer has property more that he could account for. They seized a house in Koramangala, worth `50 lakh; a building in HSR Layout worth `25 lakh and three acres of agricultural land, worth `5 lakh in Yanagunte village, which were registered in Venkatesh’s mother-in-law’s name.  They also seized gold jewellery worth `21.25 lakh, silver articles worth `1.2 lakh, cash `26,500, five bank accounts, two cars worth `10 lakh and `8 lakh.

The Lokayukta police found five bank accounts, which had a savings deposit of `9 lakh. Besides, the sleuths also found that there were nine bank lockers in the name of the engineer,  said deputy commissioner, Syed Riyaz.  The total value of the seized properties is `2.44 crore, he said.
