The massive tree stump blocking pedestrians’ path on
Cunningham Road needs to be surgically removed by professionals.

Two years have passed since it was mowed down by BBMP workers to construct an underpass. Since then, no one has bothered to remove the giant occupying the footpath opposite RBI officers’ quarters.

Passer-by dump garbage bags behind this tree stump and strays feast on them. Although accidents have not happened so far, pedestrian have to step down to the busy road to avoid this barrier.

The stump gives the otherwise beautiful stretch a shabby look. Two years back, the corporation attempted to remove it but failed as it was too heavy.

“We had complained to the BBMP many times. But they don’t seem to be taking any action. It has become a garbage dump. It also causes hindrance to pedestrians using the footpath,” says Reshma Umesh, a resident living nearby.

When the road becomes slippery during rains, pedestrians have to keep an eye on speeding vehicles as they walk past the stump. Residents have given up efforts to get it removed.

“The stump on the footpath lies unattended and it poses a threat to pedestrians. It has always been bothering me and the surrounding neighbourhood. It consumes a lot of footpath place.

“We expect the BBMP to take immediate action and solve this problem once and for all,” says Ramesh Rao, a resident of Golf Link Apartments, which is located not far from the footpath.
