Actress Ranjitha, who fell to infamy following a sex scandal, is set to make a comeback to the tinsel screen with Malayalam and Tamil movie producers eager to cash in on the audiences curiosity factor.

Ranjitha claimed that she has been getting offers from Tamil and Malayalam movie producers, but was yet to sign any call sheet.
“I am ready to act now. I just need to get some good stories which suit me. I may even act in Kannada movies if there are good opportunities,” she said.

A videotape telecast on March 2, 2010 purportedly showed the actress engaged in lewd acts with Swami Nithyananda, the head of the Bidadi-based Paramahamsa Dhyanapeeth.

The actress said she had been involved in social service ever since her first public appearance 10 months after the controversial tape was telecast.

Ranjitha got into social service mode in Bangalore on Tuesday by distributing sarees to elderly women from poor families in Cox Town. The event was organised by the Bharathinagar Residents Forum. She claimed to have attended 30 social service events in Tamil Nadu.

“I was in the limelight all these days and suffered a lot of pain following the allegations made by Lenin Karuppan (Nithyananda’s former driver and disciple). I like to participate in more functions like this, where the people will bless me,” Ranjitha said.

“I also took the blessings of Goddess Gangamma in Cox Town and prayed for strength to face all my problems,” she said.

Speaking on the controversy, the actress said Lenin went to the media with the tape after his extortion bid had failed. “Lenin has been making allegations about me and Swami Nithyananda with the intention of extorting money. When the swamiji refused to pay, he went to the media,” she said.

Ranjitha thanked her family for standing by her during the tough period. “I was shocked when the videotapes were telecast. I immediately contacted my family members. They were very much hurt, and I did not know what to tell them. But I am thankful to my parents, who supported me and strengthened me to take all the allegations with silence,” she said, adding that her husband’s family too had supported her.
