Rain likely to wreck weekend plans for Bangloreans

Friday evening showers received a mixed response from people. While party animals welcomed the rains with open arms, shoppers cursed the showers for ruining their weekend.

Most parts of the city received heavy rainfall in the evening. The weather department said it was normal. Till evening, the meteorological department recorded 22.4 mm of rainfall. The department hinted that the weekend might receive heavy showers, particularly during evenings and nights.

The weather department officials also confirmed that the average rainfall over the weekend was forecast to be about 10mm. This means cooler mornings and rainy evenings. Some officials pointed out that the rainfall may vary from time to time.

Sources from the BBMP control room said that a huge tree was uprooted near Malleswaram VI Cross. A Prahari team rushed to the spot and removed the tree, clearing the road for smooth vehicular movement. They also confirmed reports of water logging near KR Road, Basavanagudi, KR Market, Gandhinagar, Majestic, and other areas.
