‘President’s dentist’ eats humble pie

Dentist Mithra Hegde, who was recently exposed for faking as president Pratibha Patil’s dentist, ran into fresh trouble when her henchman manhandled a scribe in Mangalore.

Mithra received a string of felicitations over the last 18 months after she claimed she had been chosen as the official dentist for the president. But last week RTI activist Shiv Sharan, who also happens to be her student, pull the rug from under her feet when he proved with the help of an RTI application to the Rashtrapati Bhavan that Mithra is just an ordinary dentist.

On Wednesday Mithra ate humble pie when she failed to answer queries posed to her at a press conference. She kept on parroting that a Rashtrapati Bhavan official called her up to commend her work. But she could not identify who the person was.

Unable to substantiate her claims she left the press conference in a huff. Meanwhile, Gaurav Hegde, her relative, pushed a journalist who wanted to get some details from her. This caused a furore and journalists called the police who took Gaurav to the nearest police station. The drama ended when Mithra reached the station and apologised to journalists.
