For the beleaguered ministers involved in porngate scam, there is still more bad news. The metropolitan court on Monday directed the Vidhana Soudha Police to investigate whether any outsiders were involved in the matter, and submit a report.

The directions were issued based on a private complaint filed by Dharampal Gowda, a city-based advocate.

While seeking action against the tainted ministers, the complainant also alleges a larger conspiracy and involvement of outsiders and has sought a detailed investigation to track the accused.

Gowda, in his complaint said that the trio, who were holding responsible positions as cabinet ministers in the state government, has shown grave disrespect by watching blue film clips during the assembly session. Among them Krishna Palemar had received the blue film clip and handed over the phone to Lakshmana Savadi and CC Patil, instigating them to watch.

They have not only desecrated Vidhana Soudha, but caused embarrassment to other members of the house and the speaker. The complainant wondered why the police did not take suo moto action against the tainted ministers, as they had done while dealing with hapless live-band artistes in the city.

The police could have investigated under section 66 and 67 of the IPC after getting the due permission of the speaker, the complainant stated. The trio has committed serious offence under section 292 and 294 of IPC, which comes under the purview of the metropolitan court, Gowda said. The trio not only violated the rules by carrying mobile phones inside the assembly, they also went to the extent of watching porn on it and hence have betrayed the people of the state.

While the media across the country have extensively reported about the incident, the trio has been denying it and saying that it was not a blue film clip, but a documentary they were watching to improve their knowledge about the ill-effects of rave party. Savadi and Patil claim that the clip was forwarded from outside the assembly and they had switched off the phone the moment they came across the objectionable clip.

They allege that media had cooked up the story and they had to lose cabinet berths due to bad publicity.

If tainted ministers claim they are innocent, a detailed investigation could expose the real culprits behind the incident, the complainant said. Since the accused have admitted that they have obtained the video clip from outside the assembly, this indicates that the crime happened from outside and hence a detailed police investigation was needed to track down the person, who had sent the objectionable video clipping through MMS.

Since the crime happened outside the assembly, no permission from speaker is required to file a case, but still I have submitted a requisition with the speaker, seeking his permission to file the case, Gowda said.
