The CBI filed its objections to a case filed by former tourism minister G Janardhana Reddy in the high court for quashing the order of a special CBI court, which had remanded him to a 10-day CBI custody.

The case came up before Justice N Ananda, who adjourned it to March 15.

The CBI, in the objection, said that Reddy’s contention that he should not be remanded into the police custody was not correct in the eye of the law. The special judge, after considering the petition filed by the investigating officer, case diaries and the objection filed by the petitioner, passed the order for him to be remanded in custody. CBI also said that tracing of M Ali Khan was one of the grounds for seeking the police custody, but not the only one.

Reddy, in his appeal to the high court, contended that his custody was sought to get information about Ali Khan, and as Khan had surrendered on the same day of hearing, there was no point in remanding him to police custody.

Reddy was produced before the special CBI court in city on March 2 and the court remanded him in CBI custody.
