The high court on Friday dismissed the plea filed by Dasarahalli MLA S Muniraju, who had sought a stay on the Lok Ayukta probe pertaining to his alleged role in a land-grab case.

The Lok Ayukta court had directed the Lok Ayukta police to investigate the allegations against Muniraju. After dismissing the MLA's plea, the high court asked him to cooperate with the Lok Ayukta police for the probe. However, the HC asked the police not to arrest him.

The MLA is in dock over the private complaint filed by one Puttuswamy. The complainant has alleged that his mother-in-law Mallamma had been granted 1 acre 15 guntas of land through declaration at Kereguddadhahalli in the 1980s but Muniraju, misusing his power, claimed that the property belonged to him.
Puttuswamy had challenged the same in the high court. The court had held that the land belonged to Mallamma and directed the MLA to vacate it.

In his complaint with the Lok Ayukta police, Puttuswamy contended that despite the high court's order, Muniraju has not vacated the land. Further, he contended that the MLA has been using his influence on the tahsildar and creating problems for his mother-in-law.

Taking note of the complaint, the Lok Ayukta special court on November 2 directed the Lok Ayukta police to file an investigation report regarding the case.

It is this decision of the Lok Ayukta court that Muniraju had challenged in the high court. He had contended that the Lok Ayukta special court judge had mechanically ordered the investigation without looking into the merits of the complaints.
