The conflict between employees’ association of Karnataka State Board of Wakf (KSBW) and watchdog organisation Karnataka Wakf Protection (KWP) joint action committee over a three-acre land in Jakkur has turned ugly.

The KWP joint action committee has in its possession a judgement copy, which states the land in controversy, belongs to Jamia Masjid, Yelahanka. However, this has not quelled the employees’ association of KSBW which is refusing to budge from the property.

The employees’ association of Wakf board had filed a case against members of the KWP, including its president Sardar Ahmed Qureshi and general secretary MJ Ali, alleging that the watchdog unit had demanded four plots in the form of gifts.

Its divisional liaison officer Syed Abdul Hameed had also made the same accusation in his complaint. “They (KWP) had demanded four plots and when our association refused to follow their demands, they ransacked our office on Cunningham Road and threatened us of dire consequences,” Hameed said in his complaint.

Qureshi, however, refuted the allegations and said, “We are from the watchdog committee and have no interest in that property. Moreover, the three acres of land the association has been claiming ownership of, belongs to Jamia Masjid, Yelahanka and the KSBW has illegally acquired it through public auctions. We had filed a petition before the Karnataka Wakf Tribunal and the order was made in our favour. The fight started when we visited their office to submit the court order to them, and they have foul-mouthed us.”

Both the parties have registered a case with the High Grounds police who are refusing to comment on the investigation.
