Outer Ring Road Companies Association (ORRCA) is going all out to make Traffic Day, June 9, a big hit. The association has turned to social networking sites to gather attention.

“There are just 28 more days, and we are trying all methods to reach out to as many people as possible, and we are already joined by all companies on the Outer Ring Road. Employees of these companies are spreading the message via social networking sites like Facebook and Twitter,” said Seetharam Vishwanath , general secretary, ORRCA.

“The social networking sites, in fact, have been a huge help. People who are not linked with the association get to know about the Traffic Day from them. We have received overwhelming support to our cause, thanks to such sites,” he added.

ORRKA plans to resort to Gandhigiri to instill road sense in Bangaloreans, and will give roses to those found violating traffic rules.

“I came to know about the drive through Facebook. I liked the idea and I have joined the group in the networking site to do my little part to boost the cause,” said Soumya Chawla, an IT professional.

Also, there are interesting competitions being planned, even around the promotional material. The best punch lines for leaflets to be distributed will be rewarded.

“I believe in the idea. I am sure that it will become hugely popular,” said Baidyanath Choubey, HR professional, on Twitter.
