For the opposing camps within the state unit of BJP, Sunday is going to be a day of high political drama. Karnataka BJP in-charge, Dharmendra Pradhan, is arriving in the city and will meet top party leaders to chart the future course of party in the state.

The BJP high command is expected to announce its decision on former chief minister BS Yeddyurappa’s reinstatement, based on a report submitted by Pradhan. The visit is expected to bring clarity in state politics and clear the confusion by resolving the issue of leadership tussle between chief minister DV Sadananda Gowda and his predecessor Yeddyurappa.

The party’s central leadership had sought time with Yeddyurappa when he had hijacked about 70 MLAs to Golden Palm resort during the state budget session. They had also promised to take appropriate decision in the second week of April. In this backdrop, Pradhan’s visit is of great importance.

According to sources, the visit is crucial in deciding the fate of Yeddyurappa, who has been challenging the party high command by holding massive rallies around the state to show off his strength. He had also taken state-wide tour to oversee relief works carried out by the government.

According to sources, Pradhan will meet all BJP party core committee members personally and collect their opinion regarding leadership. He will meet chief minister, Yeddyurappa, state party president KS Eshwarappa, general secretary Ananth Kumar, home minister R Ashoka, panchayati raj minister Jagadish Shettar and other key leaders.
Later Pradhan will be submitting a report to party president Nitin Gadkari, who is expected to announce the decision of BJP core committee within a week’s time.

High hopes

Yeddyurappa’s confidants have revealed that central leaders will keep the word given to their leader and reinstate him as CM. Otherwise, Yeddyurappa will take a call to join another political party.

“If he is getting the post, he will be getting it now. Otherwise, it will never come to him. He will take a call accordingly,” they said.
Meanwhile, the chief minister’s faction is upbeat and feels that Gowda has created a feel-good factor in the state. He is giving the party a positive image and the central leadership would rubbish Yeddyurappa’s claims, they claim.
