City police have imposed prohibitory order around Vidhana Soudha from December 5 to 16 in view of the state legislature session.

Police have imposed the orders under section 144. The restrictions will be in place from December 5 to 16, except on December 6, 10 and 11, which are government holidays. The police have taken this step as Bangalore is reportedly one of the targets of terrorists.

Also, the government does not want the proceedings of the legislature session to be interrupted by demonstrations of opposition parties/labour unions/various organisations. The orders are being enforced to ensure that the work at Vidhana Soudha as well as high court goes on smoothly. The prohibitory orders have been imposed on an area of 1-km radius around Vidhana Soudha. City police commissioner BG Jyothi Prakash Mirji passed orders in this regard.
