For two years, Satish, 38, a mason, tolerated his wife’s affair with the property developer who provided them with jobs at construction sites.

But on Saturday, following a quarrel, he allegedly killed TN Narasimaiah, 50, and injured his wife Varalakshmi, 35. He then fled the scene.

The incident took place in Vajramuni Layout, Jayanagar, on Saturday evening.

The victim, TN Narasimaiah, a resident of Puttenahalli in Jayanagar, was in a relationship with Varalakshmi for the past two years. She worked at construction sites along with her husband.

The couple, married for 15 years, had come to Bangalore from Andhra Pradesh in search of a job. Life was a struggle for them until they met Narasimaiah. He got them regular work at various construction sites and also introduced them to some contractors. Narasimaiah also employed her as a domestic at his home in Puttenahalli, Jayanagar.

Initially, Satish did not suspect his wife. Narasimaiah appeared kind and generous. Little did he know that Narasimaiah was doing all this to win over his wife.

Soon, Narasimaiah and Varalakshmi began their affair. Satish did not raise any objection as they were getting regular work. But she ended her job as a domestic helper.

Now, Narasimaiah began to spend more time in Varalakshmi’s house even when Satish was around. To avoid suspicion, they introduced Narasimaiah as their relative to the neighbours, police said.

On Saturday, however, the three had a heated argument over the issue and Satish attacked his wife and Narasimaiah with a sharp object, probably a machete, and fled, said the police.

The incident came to light in the evening when the house-owner, Mohan.

He knocked on the door of Varalakshmi’s home and asked her to remove some laundry from the terrace.

When there was no response, he peeped through the window to see Narasimaiah and Varalakshmi lying in a pool of blood.
Narasimaiah was dead, but Varalakshmi was still alive. Mohan took her to Nimhans. Later, she was shifted to Victoria Hospital, where she is being treated for serious injuries.

Varalakshmi and Satish have two children, who are studying in a residential school. Narasimaiah’s body was handed over to his family after postmortem. A case has been registered with Talaghattapura police station.
