Life in a metro: 4 suicides shroud city in gloom

Bangalore on Friday night bore silent witness to four suicides. All the victims were aged between 21 and 28 years. According to the police, two victims died of consuming poison and the other two hanged themselves.

Bangalore on Friday night bore silent witness to four suicides. All the victims were aged between 21 and 28 years. According to the police, two victims died of consuming poison and the other two hanged themselves.

Death by poison
Vrushab Puneeth, a second-year civil engineering student of Dayanand Sagar College, allegedly committed suicide by consuming poison.

The 21-year-old has been staying in a rented room with his two friends.
When questioned by the police, his friends said that the last they saw of him was on Friday night after dinner.
Vrushab was watching a TV programme, they said. The next morning, they saw a bottle of poison beside his bed and found that he was dead. The friends informed the police.

Vrushab’s body was taken to KIMS Hospital for a post-mortem and a case has been registered in Kumara Swamy Layout police station.

In another case, a 26-year-old man committed suicide by consuming poison.

The deceased has been identified as Arun Kumar, an employee of SKF on Hosur Road. He has been staying with his parents in Dasarahalli.

According to his parents, Arun was reserved by nature. Arun was admitted in Raghavendra Hospital in Peenya, where he died on Saturday morning. The body was handed over to his parents after post-mortem in MS Ramaiah College. A case has been registered in Peenya police station.

Death noose
In another incident, Rajeshwari, 24, and Nagaraj, 27,  hanged themselves on the same hook, in Rajgopalnagar.

They were found hanging by neighbours who heard Rajeshwari’s child crying for a long time.

According to the police, Nagaraj and Rajeshwari’s husband Raju were friends and business partners. They owned a shop selling hot chips. Raju was visiting his hometown Davangere when tragedy struck.

Preliminary investigations revealed that Rajeshwari and Nagaraj were having an affair.

The bodies were taken to Victoria Hospital for post-mortem. A case has been registered in Rajgopalnagar police station.
