“Let the Sangh Parivar come here and resolve differences between BBMP mayor

R Shardamma and deputy mayor S Harish,” said M Udayshankar, opposition party leader in the Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) council.

Speaking to reporters, Udayshankar said that RSS intervened and resolved the differences between former chief minister BS Yeddyurappa and CM DS Sadananda Gowda. “So let them resolve the tiff in BBMP as well,” he said. “If the RSS can involve themselves in preparing the BBMP budget, why can’t they solve a problem between their own party members?” asked Udayshankar.

Commenting on the mayor’s medical relief fund, Udayshankar said as of January 12, `6,000 is left in the account. “At least `5 crore has been earmarked for the mayor’s medical fund. Of this, only `3.5 crore had been sanctioned due to the shortage of funds. While the money has been given for people’s medical aid, only `6,000 is left. People who are in dire medical need are sent back”, Udayshankar said.

He added that with no medical support from the mayor’s fund, people are approaching local corporators for help.

“Each corporator will be given `4 lakh as medical relief fund for the public, which is a total amount of `8 crore for all the 198 ward corporators. But since there is no fund with the BBMP, no corporator had received any amount so far”, he said.

Even if BBMP provides the fund to each corporator now, the people in need will not be able to avail the aid in this fiscal year. This is due to the prolonged verification by the health officials on address, treatment and payment verification.
