Kid dies in accident on way to Bannerghatta National Park

A family’s plans of a Sunday at  Bannerghatta National Park ended in tragedy as a four-year-old boy died in an accident near Jigani Junction.

The boy, S Vishwanath, was travelling with six other members of his family from their home in Hosur, Tamil Nadu, to the Bannerghatta National Park.

The accident occurred around 9.30 am when Sampath Kumar, the driver of the car, and Vishwanath’s father, failed to notice a road median. The car rammed into the median, and Vishwanath, who was sitting in the front seat, fell off. The four-year-old sustained serious head injuries and died on the way to a nearby hospital, police said.

Six other members of the family underwent treatment as out-patients in the hospital, said an investigative officer.

Sampath Kumar is an employee of Microlabs in Bommanahalli. Bannerghatta police have registered a case. The body of the boy was handed over to parents after post-mortem examination.
