The Bangalore University syndicate meeting held on Friday witnessed a war of words between the syndicate members, once again.

KV Acharya, a syndicate member, used foul language against the vice- chancellor N Prabhu Dev and a member K Puttaraju, which resulted in some members walking out of the meet. Earlier too, in a syndicate meeting at the varsity that was held some months ago, Acharya had allegedly used abusive words directed at the VC. Then the university had issued a notice to Acharya instructing him to apologise and decided not to invite him for the next meeting.

The same had also been brought to the notice of the state higher education minister VS Acharya, who had directed the university to clear these issues from within. Following the minister’s direction, the varsity let syndicate member Acharya inside the meeting but again he had been accused of using foul language.

University has decided to bring it to the notice of the government and the chancellor and also a resolution has been passed about issuing a notice to the abusive member.

In the meantime, several issues and initiatives were discussed in the meeting, such as road repair works at the Jnana Bharathi campus. Shortly, a sum of `1 crore will be approved by Bangalore University to BBMP for carrying out the development works.

The syndicate approved the vice-chancellor’s visit  to Boston to attend VSNA 34th Annual Convention-2011 and International Basava Conference, without financial commitment on the part of Bangalore University.
