The state government on Friday reaffirmed its commitment to provide all facilities for overseas Kannadigas to invest in their home state.

At the Karnataka-US Investors' Meet in the city, large and medium industries' minister Murugesh Nirani urged Kannadigas, who have a huge presence in the US, the UK, Singapore and the Arabian Gulf, to return to Karnataka to realise their dreams of putting their talent, experience, and money to the best use.

Outlining the plans for enlisting NRI Kannadigas for the state's development, deputy chairman of NRI Forum of Karnataka Ganesh Karnik said, "Plans are on for creating a knowledge skill bank of NRI Kannadigas in various domains.

It is not just investments we are looking at. We want to set up a system for effective utilisation of knowledge, experience, technical competence and financial resources for the development of your mother land." The meet was a major step in enlisting them under various domains, he added.

Chairman of the legislative council DH Shankara Murthy, in his inaugural address, recalled the cry against brain drain four decades ago. He expressed his happiness as those who left the country are now eager to return home.

"A lot has changed in political, economic and social conditions in India and the US. In fact, it is the US which is worried about India's talent pool stealing jobs from Americans," he said.Delegates at the Karnataka-US Investors' Meet at the Vidhana Soudha on Friday
