Chief minister DV Sadananda Gowda on Thursday informed the Legislative Council that new policy will be formulated by April 15 to stop misuse of advertisement revenue of BBMP.

Answering a question in this regard raised by Congress MLC M Srinivas, he stated that instead of increasing, the revenue, which comes from the fee levied on display of advertisements across the city over the years, had reduced.
Srinivas explained that, it had also become a mafia and BBMP officials are colluded.

“Now, BBMP commissioner had asked for mortgaging BBMP properties,” he said.

The chief minister said the media had misrepresented the fact and the BBMP commissioner never said that in the council meeting.

JD (S) leader MC Nanaiah stated that flex boards have mushroomed all over the city and the corporation was losing revenue due to that. The mafia is so strong that the flexes come up on the premises of Vidhana Soudha. The revenue loss to the BBMP is about `500 crore, he explained.
