The state budget would be presented in all likelihood on March 9 and it would be presented by chief minister D V Sadananda Gowda. “Do not harbour any doubts as to who will be presenting the budget. It will be me and no one else,” Gowda said brushing aside reports of a possible change of leadership in the state.

Speaking to reporters in Hubli as he arrived to participate in an RSS convention, Gowda said he had already started preparations for the budget.

The chief minister refused to drop any hints about the profile of the next budget.

However, he stated that he would accommodate the suggestions that would be expressed during the forthcoming legislature session starting from January 30.

“I will devote an entire month after the session to prepare the budget. I will keep away from public functions during the period to concentrate fully on preparing the budget. In all likelihood, I will present it on March 9,” he said.

The chief minister denied any rift either with former chief minister BS Yeddyurappa or state BJP president KS Eshwarappa. Replying to a question he said the RSS convention being held at Hubli would not discuss the internal affairs in state BJP.

“It will dwell on issues of national patriotism and how to inspire the youth to be patriotic,” he said.

The chief minister drew the attention of the gathering of RSS workers as he turned up in RSS uniform of khaki shorts, white shirt and black cap along with rural development and panchayat raj minister Jagadish Shettar. “I am participating in this Patriotism Rally as an ordinary activist of RSS. There is no political motive behind it,” he said.

Several BJP legislators and leaders too participated in the convention that had a gathering of over 20,000. Temporary tent townships have been erected to accommodate the RSS workers during the two-day convention.
