Just another day: Two killed in road accidents in Bangalore

A 24-year-old youth was killed when a speeding lorry hit his motorcycle from behind in front of Bagani Hotel on Mahadevapura Ring Road on Saturday night.

A 24-year-old youth was killed when a speeding lorry hit his motorcycle from behind in front of Bagani Hotel on Mahadevapura Ring Road on Saturday night.

A Manjunath, a resident of AECS layout in Singasandra and business-territory manager with Astra Genical Pharma India, was on his way home when he was hit by the lorry carrying cement.

He was taking a turn to the service road at Doddanakundi signal when the speeding lorry hit him. He sustained serious injuries and was rushed to the nearest hospital, where he was declared brought dead.

Manjunath, a native of Bangarpet in Kolar, was living in the city with his sister. The body was handed over to his family after postmortem.

KR Puram traffic police arrested the lorry driver and have registered a case against him.

Speeding canter kills cyclist
In another incident, a 38-year-old cyclist was killed when a speeding canter rammed on him in Viveknagar on Sunday. Selvaraj, a resident Rudrappa Garden in Viveknagar, was on his way to a shop near his house when he was hit by the canter about 8.30am.

He died instantly. The canter driver left the vehicle at the spot and fled.

Selvaraj is survived by his wife and two children. The body was handed over to his family after postmortem. A case has been registered at Ashoknagar traffic policestation.
