A city-based IT company that had even bagged an award for R&D has been accused of misappropriating lakhs of rupees of its employees by denying Provident Fund contributions due to them.

The enforcement officer of Regional Provident Fund, MN Prasanna, filed a complaint of criminal breach of trust and cheating against SLN Technologies Private Ltd, situated on Old Madras Road, on February 6.

According to the complaint, SLN Technologies’ directors, Anil Kumar and DR Subramanya, collected the employees’ contribution from March 2009 to December 2011—worth more than `15 lakh—towards PF but never remitted the same to the PF department.

The incident came to light during the audit and a notice has been served seeking explanation, he said. After failing to get reply from the company, a criminal case has been filed against the directors of the company, Prasanna said.

Awarded for R&D
SLN Technologies was given an award for excellence in R&D two years ago. Also, the company claims to have the best human resource policy in the IT industry.

Mahadevapura police have taken up the case against the company and have sought the audit report from the company for further investigations. Prasanna said that after the investigations, the PF department was planning to prosecute the company for misappropriation of funds and cheating not only the employees but also causing loss to the government exchequer.
