In five years, Bangalore can boast of a multi-attraction theme park on the lines of Disneyland in the US. But the aim of this park is to educate people about the various aspects of Lord Krishna and his life and deeds through entertainment.

The International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) has planned the Rs450 crore theme park off Kanakapura Road on 28 acres of land.

Speaking to Sunday DNA about the project, vice-president of ISKCON Bangalore, Chanchalapathi Das, said that the park was being planned for children who would be educated about Krishna’s life in an interesting and entertaining manner.

It would also make an interesting venue for family outings, he said. “The indoor park will  host storytelling sessions in an experiential form — people would get to become characters appearing in Krishna Leela. They would be transported into the story environment using ‘imagineering’ techniques,” he explained.

One of the major attractions at the park is ‘Amazing Adventures of Krishna’. This is a water ride through what is simulated to be the forests of Brindavan.

The park will also have a boat ride to give visitors the experience of what Krishna’s father, Vasudev, might have gone through while crossing the river with little Krishna in a
basket to Dwaraka.

“It is a small boat ride through a dark passage with animated dolls, sound and lighting on a screen that shows Krishna being transported,” he said.

Other attractions include ‘Govardhan Leela’, ‘Little Krishna’s Happiest Land’, ‘Vaikuntha Experience’, ‘Welcome Show: Recognising God’, ‘Dungeons of Hiranya Kashipu’, ‘Birth of Krishna’, ‘Krishna Rescues Rukmini’, ‘Join the Pandava Army’, and a water screen show titled ‘Dashavataram’.

Visitors can have a go at some ancient Indian games, re-created for modern experience, at the ‘Game Zone’.

There is also a ‘Science and Spiritualism’ corner and the ‘Pavilion for World Religions’.
The park will include a six-acre ‘themeplex’ similar to the multiplexes, which will play about 40 stories of Krishna.
“All these are in different stages of development, after which we will take up the engineering and execution,” he said.
There’s something for foodies too. Vegetarian theme restaurants within the park will serve food, recipes of which date back to over 4,000 years.
