Talking about team leaders, Prafulla Kumar Padhi from MIT said they should recognise the importance of ethical behaviour. The best leaders exhibit both their values and their ethics in leadership.
"India has the traits of becoming a global super power because it is one of the civilisations which is a symbol of harmony in diversity," said Prafulla Kumar Padhi from MIT, Kellogg School of Business, USA, while speaking on '21st century Global Economy and India' at GEMS B School in Bangalore on Sunday.
Padhi, a self-made entrepreneur, has 34 years experience on governance, strategic management and entrepreneurship on building ventures in energy, information communication technology (ICT) and internet consumer services sector. He spoke on the values and ethics for becoming an entrepreneur. Padhi said, "India has the traits of becoming an economic super power by 2050, since it has the young population. India will have 700 million young workers in the next 30 years in the global economy."
"India is the largest democracy that promotes friendship and creativity. It has the traits of becoming a global super power because it is one of the civilisations which are the symbol of harmony in diversity," added Padhi.
While talking about team leaders, Padhi said they should recognise the importance of ethical behaviour. The best leaders exhibit both their values and their ethics in their leadership style and actions.
"We have to walk the talk and have our values drive and inspire the people within our organisation. We have to develop a culture with people around us," he added.
He stressed on three important rules for development in our country. India, to catch up with the rest of the world, should have governance, management, and leadership qualities. He cited an example: "In Boston, the vehicles go at a particular speed and maintain the speed further; there is no honking. In India, the moment the vehicles hit the road, they start honking and it does not end. This is because of lack of good governance."
India is rich in human resources. He advised the students that there is no requirement for them to look out abroad for jobs since India is growing in economy.
