Former chief minister BS Yeddyurappa on Saturday launched a broadside against his detractors within the BJP and other parties and warned that he will not spare his betrayers.

“So far, they have seen only one side of my persona. They are yet to see my hidden side. These seven months have taught me immensely. Now I am able to see true colours of people. I will not spare anyone who backstabbed me, be it my own partymen or those in the opposition,” he said.

He was addressing a massive rally organised at his hometown Shimoga. He asked the leaders of the party to join him as he would build a new band of soldiers.

“Mediapersons should kindly not quote me as saying I am building a separate party. It will be a new BJP brigade and certainly it needs a new leader. We shall overthrow old, stale faces,” Yeddyurappa said.

“I will not allow anyone to change my budget programmes. I will certainly not tolerate if my welfare schemes are reversed,” he said. The question is not how good the budget is, but the real question is who implements the budget schemes, he remarked.

Regarding former prime minister HD Deve Gowda, Yeddyurappa said in future he would not allow Gowda to gain political mileage by using his name. He also challenged former Lokayukta justice Santosh Hegde to prove the charges of telephone tapping against him. He questioned him why he should not file a contempt case against justice Hegde.

Yeddyurappa stated that, it was thanksgiving programme organised by his fans at his home town and asked those who were not invited to not to take it personally (chief minister DV Sadananda Gowda and party president Eshwarappa were not invited).

The BJP leaders on the dais—ministers Basavaraj Bommai, CM Udasi, Raju Gowda, MP Renukacharya—and film actress Shruthi and some MLAs present declared that they had come to the function as fans of Yeddyurappa and not as a politicians or partymen.

Film actress Shruthi said that if LK Advani was the captain of the BJP, it was Yeddyurappa who scored centuries like cricketer Sachin Tendulkar.

Before the function, Yeddyurappa took part in an open jeep procession on the streets of Shimoga city. More than 50,000 people attended the function.
