The central crime branch (CCB) police have filed charge sheet against 11 persons for their involvement in the abduction and murder of two BBM students of Mysore’s Mahajan College.

The charge sheet was filed before the 1st additional chief metropolitan magistrate court on Friday. It said that the culprits meticulously planned and executed the kidnapping and murder, which occurred in June.

The charge sheet stated that the boys were kept in captivity at the house of Khalid Ahmed, 52, one of the accused in the case, in Mysore. The victims were asked to write letters to their parents to pay ransom demanded by the abductors. The letter warned that their lives were in danger and non-payment of the ransom would result in their killing.

The letter was taken to Madikeri where one of the accused, Israr, was entrusted with handing it over to a KSRTC bus driver who was told to deliver it to those waiting at Hunsur bus station. Israr did the job as instructed by the main accused Naveed Ahmed, who is yet to be arrested. One of the culprits took the mobile phone from an abducted boy and went to Gejjalagere in Mandya district from where a call was made to the parents. The boys were taken to Chikkaballapur two days after their abduction in a car owned by Shafir Ahmed, 34, a resident of Mysore, also an accused.

As many as 20 Sim cards, bought on behalf of various people, were purchased and used to make calls among the culprits. “The culprits prepared themselves to collect ransom. But the fear of getting identified resulted in killing the boys,” the charge sheet stated. Investigation revealed that 16 people were involved in the case. Only 11 were arrested that included two who harboured the culprits while the two boys were in captivity. Khalid and Shafir are among the 11 arrested in the case.

Sudhindra Mohan, 19, and HS Vignesh, 20, were picked up from a park next to Mahajana’s First Grade College, Mysore on June 8. Their bodies were found abandoned in Agalagurki in the outskirts of Chikkaballapur on June 12. The victims were kidnapped when they had gone to Mysore to write their examinations from their native Hunsur.
