Head-on collision: 2 dead, 1 injured

In a head-on collision between two motorcycles on BEL Road, two men lost their lives while a pillion rider sustained injuries.

The deceased have been identified as Ali Abbas Ahmed, 19, a first-year LLB student of MS Ramaiah College and Anil Prasad, 20, a private firm employee.

Anil’s friend Goutham was riding pillion with him.

On Saturday midnight, Ali, a resident of Venkatachalanagar near Lottegollahalli, was returning home. Prasad and Goutham, too, were returning to their residence in Dollars’ Colony after visiting a couple of friends. Prasad was coming from Kuvempu Circle towards MS Ramaiah Hospital while Ahmed was coming from the hospital towards Devasandra.

The bikes collided on BEL Road. Ahmed succumbed to injuries while being shifted to the hospital, while Prasad died in the early hours of Sunday. Goutham’s condition is still critical, police said.

Investigations revealed that Prasad was speeding in an attempt to overtake a car and lost control.

After postmortem at MS Ramaiah Hospital, the bodies were handed over to their family members. The RT Nagar traffic police have registered a case.
