Govt to streamline data online soon

At the diamond jubilee celebrations of the Employees’ State Insurance Corporation (ESIC), Union finance minister Pranab Mukherjee announced that the Centre has established a national social security fund. Keeping pace with the digital world, the ESIC has undertaken the task of providing Pehchan Card to its stakeholders.

The card will help streamline operations for ESIC as well as serve as a computerised smartcard for family identification in India.
The finance minister announced that the rolling out of ‘Panchdeep,’ an IT Project for computerisation amd digitisation of its core processes.  This computerisation process will enable the employers and employees for availing all the services of ESIC, such as registration of company and employees, deposit of  employees’ and employers’ contribution, medical facilities and cash benefit payments anywhere anytime across the country, treatment history of beneficiaries for future reference, their status etc.

Kapil Sibal, Union minister for communication and IT, released a commemorative postal stamp depicting the ESIC’s far-reaching contribution to India.

Mallikarjun Kharge, Union minister of labour and employment, said that ESIC network has now 150 ESI hospitals in its fold.
CS Kedar, director-general, ESIC, said that currently, there are 9.76 lakh new employees and 34,699 new factories/establishments under the social security coverage of ESIC.
