Former crickter Srinath, actress Nidhi will run with you in Mysore

Former cricketer Javagal Srinath and Kannada cine actress Nidhi Subbaiah will take part in the celebration run in Dasara in Mysore .

The 10-day Dasara festivities, which will start on September 28, will be an added attraction wherein people of Mysore from all age groups will participate in the ‘Celebration Run’ on October 2. The participation of Subbaiah and Srinath has been confirmed.

“Dasara has always been close to my heart and I will not miss a chance to celebrate it in my own way,” Srinath told DNA. He said he would run for 10 km in the Celebration Run.

PB Mithra, director of the organising company ‘Life is calling sports’, told DNA that the Celebration Run is a half marathon event that endeavors to promote a healthy lifestyle.

He said the city, which is in celebration mood, should also re-discover the health aspect. He said that is how they derived the name Celebration Run.

The running event will have both competitive and non-competitive running categories. The event includes 5km Celebration Run, 10km Run and 21km Half Marathon for men and women above 15 years of age.

The Celebration Run will include live music bands and various cultural dance groups along the race route to encourage the runners and to exhibit the ambience of festivity.

The top three winners in both women’s and men’s category in half marathon will be given cash prize of Rs30,000, Rs25,000 and Rs15,000 respectively. The runners have to finish the 21km distance within the cut-off time, which is 1.30 hours for men and 1.50 hours for women.

The top three winners in 10km in men and women category will receive Rs15,000, Rs10,000 and Rs5,000 respectively.

The scheduled time to cover the distance is 45 minutes for men and 60 minutes for women. The runners in the fourth and fifth places in the 21km and 10km runs will be given gift hampers.

Medals and certificate of participation will also be given to all the runners who complete the run. Those interested may register for a run of their choice online on www.celebrationrun.com
