Families go shopping, so do burglars

Burglars struck at the rented house of three Iranian students in JP Nagar on Thursday night and fled with Rs2.5 lakh worth valuables.
The break-in happened when Sahara Pirzada, 25, of KR Layout had gone out for shopping along with her sister and brother.

When they returned home past 11 pm, the three found the front door open. When they checked inside, two gold necklaces, two gold earrings, two laptops and `1.70 lakh cash were missing.
Sahara told police that they left for shopping after locking the door. However, police suspect that they might have forgotten to lock the door or some of their friends might have used a duplicate key to open the door.

Sahara is a student of Physiotherapy in KIMS College. Her brother and sister are studying in different colleges.
In another incident, burglars broke into a businessman’s house and ran  away with valuables.

The incident happened when Parvathamma, 54, a resident of Yagganahalli Road, Sunkadakatte, had gone out for shopping with her family around 6 pm.

When she returned home past 9.30 pm, she was shocked to find the front door ajar.

The burglars had fled with four gold rings, a gold chain, a bracelet, a pair of earring and `5,300 cash which were kept in the almirah in the bedroom.

Boy drowns in water tank
A class III student died after falling into a water tank on Friday. The deceased has been identified as S Satish, son of Shankarappa, a goldsmith. He was studying in Government Higher Primary School at Thirumashettyhalli.
