To draw more number of tourists to Dasara, the state government has decided to give tax exemption for vehicles which comes to Mysore at the time of the festival.

This benefit will be extended for one month. An official announcement will be made by chief minister DV Sadananda Gowda shortly.   A meeting will be organised to discuss the same on September 15.

SA Ramdas, Mysore in-charge minister and state medical education minister, said, “We are extending this benefit to attract more tourists and this facility will be given for about a month.”

The government is also putting a welcome arch announcing the grand Dasara celebrations on all state highways connecting Mysore.

Foreign tourists have made special arrangements, such as home-stays, in Mysore to witness the celebrations, which will commence on September 28. “We are providing special space for foreign tourists near Banni Mantapa to see Jambu Savaari,” said Ramdas.

Rural Dasara
Rural Dasara will begin from September 19 and minister Jagadish Shettar will inaugurate the celebrations at Nanjanagudu.
