Diversion of water: Karnataka gets notice

A division bench headed by chief justice Vikramajit Sen on Tuesday issued notices to state government, water resource department principal secretary and department of rural development and panchayat raj in a case related to the diversion of water from Hemavathy River to Madalur tank and 11 other tanks coming under Krishna basin.

D Krishna Kumar and others filed a PIL seeking a stay on the government order to divert the water.

In their plea, they stated that they have farmland in Kunigal taluk, Tumkur, and Hemavathy is the only source of water.
