The Lok Ayukta special court will deliver the verdict on whether bail should be granted to former minister Katta Subramanya Naidu on medical grounds, on October 17. Naidu is currently facing charges in the multi-crore Karnataka Industrial Areas Development Board (KIADB) scam case.

Naidu, who was remanded to judicial custody by the Lokayukta court, has claimed for bail on medical grounds. He has contended that he has been suffering from diabetes, hypertension, cervical spondylytis and non-Hodgkin's lymphoma. He is currently undergoing treatment at Victoria Hospital.

The Lokayukta special court on October 4 had asked the director of KIDWAI Memorial Institute of Oncology Prof C Vijay Kumar to furnish a second opinion regarding the medical condition of the former minister.

The director has submitted the medical document in a sealed cover to the Lokayukta court on Friday.

Thereafter, judge NK Sudhindra Rao went through the documents. The matter was then called at 12.30pm.

The judge asked the counsel about Naidu's health condition. The counsel submitted that the former minister complains of neck pain, stomach ache, and bleeding in the rectum.

The judge then read out the medical document and asked a few questions to the counsel.

He pointed out that the medical treatment and the records given by Victoria Hospital are incomplete. There is no evidence of the disease clinically. The PET and the CT shows the recurrence of the disease, but it has to be confirmed by conducting the lymph node biopsy.

The judge then asked the counsel their action plan and the time they require to treat Naidu.

The counsel replied that Naidu has to undergo treatment in Leelavathy Hospital in Mumbai and they sought 4 weeks.
They reasoned that the hospital holds expertise in treating lymph node cancer. The judge said he will go through all documents and has adjourned the case to October 17.

It may be recalled that the Lok Ayukta special court on September 19 had extended the judicial custody of Naidu and his son, BBMP corporator Katta Jagadish until October 26.
