The selection of Jayahe for a jury award has earned the ire of Priya Hasan, who has accused the award selection committee for not considering her Bindaas Hudugi for award. Hasan made her debut in Sandalwood with Black & White and graduated as director with the film Jambada Hudugi.

“Last year, my film Jambada Hudugi was denied an award, stating that I did not dub my voice. I put in a lot of effort to make Bindaas Hudugi. I also dubbed my voice.,” she said.

“I do not know what made the award selection committee deny an award for my film,’’ said Priya.

Stating that she wanted to approach the court, the actress has said that Ayesha, who played the lead role, could not speak Kannada.

“There is a rule to deny the award for a film if the heroine is not well-versed in Kannada. Now, the committee members have selected Jayahe and denied the award for my film,’’ she said.
Bharathi Vishnuvardhan, chairperson, award selection committee, said Jayahe was selected for the jury award based on the film’s quality.

“We selected the right film for the right award. I am sure that anyone who see both the films would agree with me,’’ said Bharathi.

It may be recalled that actress Ramya, too, was denied of state award since she could not dub her voice.

Ramya had dubbed her voice for Sanju Weds Geetha, which bagged awards for best cinematography, best recording and best editing.
