If you have missed seeing Metro in action while on its trial run, here’s your chance. Trial runs  from  Byappanahalli and MG Road and back will be done on a daily basis throughout  February, in line for BMRCL to begin commercial operation by Ugadi (April 4).

Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) has decided to conduct trial runs throughout February. The frequency will be increased from Monday (January 31) itself.

The aim is to log 2,500 km of trial runs for Reach One to get the safety certification from the Commissioner of Railway Safety (CRS).

After the first trial run on the full stretch of Reach One on January 23, BMRCL officials were confident of the trial run on the parallel track by January 28.

BLY Chavan, the official BMRCL spokesman told DNA that a decision on when the train would run from Byappanahalli to MG Road station near Plaza theatre would be taken up on Friday.

Sources in BMRCL told DNA about the technical glitches in the cable works on the tracks during the last trial run. The glitches are now being sorted out.

Cable work glitches caused the train some hindrance near Old Madras Road station because of which the train that left Byappanahalli station at 4:03 pm reached the Swami Vivekananda station on SV Road only after 16 minutes, said sources that were on the train last Sunday (January 23).

It should have taken a maximum of five minutes even at 25 km per hour speed.

The train also stopped for more than 40 minutes near Ulsoor station, and for more than 15 minutes near Trinity Circle station where BMRCL workers along with managing director N Sivasailam were inspecting the tracks along with other experts.

BMRCL will complete inspecting the entire 7.2 km length of the track of Reach One before calling in CRS experts for inspection ahead of obtaining the safety certification. The Metro Rail is expected to complete 2,500 km of trial runs in eight to 10 weeks—that’s by the first week of April.

Commuters will get to ride the Metro Rail only after that.
