The state government, in an effort to make life easier for people in the city, has decided to implement the Citizen Charter from April 2. 
This means you no longer have to visit the BBMP office umpteen number of times or pay bribes to get your khata, birth or death certificates.

Students too will now get their marks re-totalled and get the report in a stipulated time.

Motivated by the success of its pilot project, where of 1 lakh applications from four taluks,  87,000 were disposed of, the government has decided to expand the services to government offices across the state.

In the ambit of the Bill, 151 services from various departments of revenue, finance, administration, urban development projects, village panchayat, food and civil supplies, women and child development, health, education and transport will be included.
Issue of BMTC student passes, KSRTC passes for physically handicapped, new or additional water connection, driving licence are some of the other services that will be provided in a time-bound manner to the public.

“The authorities will also display a notice board detailing the services offered and the role of the officer. The stipulated time for the provision of services will  be displayed,” said deputy commissioner MK Iyappa, announcing the implementation of the services.  Those who wish to avail the services will be given a 14-digit number.

“All further correspondence must be done using this number,” he said.
