Bangalore police are yet to find the traffic head constable who went missing from his Srirampura residence on May 6.

Colleagues of P Vijay Kumar, 51, the missing head constable, said that their counterparts in the law and order department have been delaying the probe.

“The Rajajinagar police are not taking the case seriously. They are delaying the investigation. They have not done anything to find him since the complaint was filed,” a colleague of Kumar said on the condition of anonymity.

The Rajajinagar police, however, denied the allegation, and said that Kumar might have been kidnapped. Their probe has narrowed down to a woman, who the missing man had lent money to.

Police refused to identify the woman since it would affect the investigation. It was learnt that the woman was running a travel agency in the city.

“We have found that the woman had earlier lent money to Kumar. Later, he appeared to have financed her.  Kumar pledged some gold and silver ornaments to help her with money. It is clear that he has gone missing since he had some financial trouble,” an investigator said, adding that the case would be solved soon.
Investigators have found that Kumar made multiple phone calls to the woman before he had gone missing.

The police have learnt that Kumar had been asking her to return his money.

Kumar had attended work on Thursday last, and the next evening around 5.30, he left his residence.

When he did not return till 11.30pm, his son Sreedhar, an engineering student, went in search of his father.

Kumar’s colleagues reportedly told Sreedhar that they had not seen the head constable that evening. He later approached the Rajajinagar police with a complaint.

Senior police officers held a meeting at the city police commissioner’s office, and instructed investigators to find Kumar at the earliest.
