BJP leader LK Advani has challenged prime minister Manmohan Singh to issue a white paper on his promise to bring black money stashed in foreign banks back to the country.

“The prime minister, in his first address after assuming office, had stated that he will bring black money from Swiss banks within first 100 days of his tenure. It has been 700 days, but the prime minister is yet to keep his promise,” said Advani here.

“The recent United Nations convention on corruption had prompted the Swiss Parliament to pass the Retrition of Illicit Assets Act, 2011, which empowers the Swiss government to return the money back to the country of origin of the depositor. France and Germany have already started taking back their money and India should not lag behind, especially when it has a sum of Rs25 lakh crore which can take care of the entire rural development of India,” said the senior BJP leader.
