The number of BJP lawmakers joining the ‘league of shame’ during the party’s 45-month rule entered double figures with three more ministers — Krishna Palemar, Lakshman Savadi and CC Patil — tendering their resignation.

Eleven ministers have been forced to quit because of their embarrassing acts during the party’s reign so far.

Leading this group is none other than former Chief Minister BS Yeddyurappa who was forced to quit over Lok Ayukta report on land scams and financial irregularities. The report indicted him of involving in illegal de-notification of land and seeking illegal gratification in the form of donations to the trust floated by his sons.

It all started with former Food and Civil Supplies Minister Haratalu Halappa who was shunted out following a criminal case booked against him for allegedly molesting the wife of one of his close friends in Shimoga.

Krishnaiah Setty, former Muzrai minister, and Katta Subramanaya Naidu, former IT and BT minister, were punished for their alleged involvement in sand scams.

Ramachandra Gowda was made to quit in the wake of an alleged scam in the recruitment of medical and non-medical staff to two government medical colleges and hospitals.

Former ministers Janardhana Reddy, his elder brother Karunakara Reddy and their close associate Sriramulu were removed from the ministry after they were indicted by the Lok Ayukta report on illegal mining.

The sacking of Bellary’s three strong men raised a storm in the party which led to Sriramulu quitting the party and floating his own political outfit, BSR Congress.

The latest entrants to the league, Krishna Palemar, CC Patil and Lakshman Savadi, paid a heavy price for their curiosity in watching a porn clip in the legislative assembly.

Their act has added a new hue to the controversies that have dented the image of BJP which has prided itself as a disciplined party.
