Who is responsible for the death of 19-year-old college student B Bhanu Priya, who died on Tuesday (September 21) due to civic negligence on Krumbigal Road in Chikka Mavalli? There seems to be no answer yet as civic agencies keep blaming each other.
BBMP had issued a statement blaming Bescom for the mess on footpath which led to Bhanu Priya’s death.

On Friday, a Bescom spokesperson said it had finished laying power cables on Krumbigal Road on August 26.
“The pits were restored on August 28 and no debris was left on footpath. This work was taken up after obtaining permission from BBMP,” said Bescom chief engineer Ashok Angadi in a press release.

The press release said the accident spot was nearly 15 feet away from the place where it carried out the work.

“An existing cable feeding the transformer of the locality developed a fault and in order to restore power supply to the locality, a small pit measuring 1.5X2 metres was dug. The pit in itself was not the reason behind the accident and we cannot be faulted for the mishap,” said the release. BBMP officials, however, reiterated their version on Friday.
