A link road connecting the Bannerghatta Road with Hosur Road will be built by the Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP).

This was decided on Wednesday during an inspection of Bommanahlli zone by mayor Sharadamma.

Corporator Manjunath Reddy said the BBMP’s proposed road connecting the Madivala Lake stretch of Bannerghatta road with Hosur road would be beneficial to the public.

BBMP commissioner M K Shankarlinge Gowda said the civic body had earlier floated a tender for the road construction, but at the government level the work was assigned to Bangalore Development Authority. “We will withdraw the project from BDA and construct the road,” Gowda assured.

BWSSB pipeline
The mayor said that preference will be given for the development works on the newly added areas. During the mayor’s visit to HSR Layout, the residents complained about disruptions being caused by BWSSB pipe laying work. For the past one-and-half years, the BWSSB has been laying sewerage pipes at the 27th main road, causing hardship to commuters and pedestrians.

The mayor directed the BWSSB engineers to complete the project by March-end and take up the asphalting work on the road.

She also inspected the drain and road asphalting work at the Madinanagar at Mangammanapalya.

The first phase has been completed and the second phase is in progress. The mayor directed the engineers to complete the project before the onset of monsoons.

Begur Road widening
MLA Satish Reddy requested the mayor to take up the widening of Begur main road, which connects Hosur road with Kanakapura road. The work on this road was halted due to land acquisition issues.

The MLA said that now it has been sorted out and the land owners have agreed to provide land through transfer of development rights (TDR).

The BBMP deputy commissioner (land acquisition) said that procedures for the land acquisition have already been completed and the work will be taken up by March-end.
