Three persons were killed in as many road accidents in the city around noon on Wednesday.

A 27-year-old motorcyclist was killed when a BMTC bus lost control and ran over him.

The incident took place on the busy KG road near Himalaya Junction signal around 1.45 pm. Witnesses said the bus hit the bike rider from behind and ran over him as he fell on to the ground.

The deceased has been identified as Eeranagayya, a marketing executive working with HDFC Bank in Frazer Town. He was killed instantly.  Apart from colliding with the bike, the bus had hit two auto rickshaws, another motorcycle and a car.

The driver of the BMTC bus, Shivaputhra, has been taken into police custody, said Upparpet traffic police inspector, HC Jagadish. “The accident is clearly the fault of the BMTC driver as he lost control of the bus and rammed into the vehicles in front of him at the signal,” he said. “Except for the deceased, no one was hurt in the accident,” he added.

Eeranagayya, a native of Andhra Pradesh, was living with his friends in Yeshwanthpur. His body was kept in the Victoria Hospital, awaiting a post-mortem examination.
